The Kent is reminiscent of classic 40s/50s Miami. The lobby and decor are a perfect fit for the area, but the kids thought the elevator was the best part. The rooms were the right size for the three of us (my kids are bigger than I am!) with ample room for our luggage and belongings. The Kent offers queen size beds- unbelievably hard to find last minute in the area- with soft sheets and comfy pillows. There was a big shower with perfect water pressure, which is so important when coming back from swimming! Josh, the night clerk, was quick and respectful upon check-in. He offered plenty of recommendations, like the restaurant next door. (We chose lunch for breakfast because the menu was amazing). Josh even called me by name each time we left and returned to the hotel. Wes, now, Wes was the best, helpful and interesting. He told me where to go for swim trunks and souvenirs, so I didn't have to leave the area. Wes was quick to help when we needed it, and he was an interesting guy to chat with. The valet service was beyond convenient because parking in the area was frustrating. The fee was reasonable and service was fast.

The Kent hotel is just a stones-throw away from Ocean Drive and was very easy to reach and access. There was a parking space right outside the entrance where you could load and unload (for 15 minutes). Just a couple of blocks away was a parking garage that charged 20 Dollars for a 24-hour parking (it's also fully possible and legal to park in the street, in assigned parking spaces). A quick two-minute walk back to the hotel. The staff were kind and very engaged in our well-being. Room was on the smaller side but accomodated our needs (family of four sleeping in two queen-sized beds that were very much to our liking, wide and not too soft, we slept well). As in many hotels along the way, though, the AC-unit was surprisingly noisy - but within tolerable parameters. Heard some of the general commotion from Ocean Drive, and from the restaurant connected to the hotel, but weren't really disturbed by it. All in all a fully satisfying stay!

My friends and I visit Miami every January to escape the cold in Virginia. This is our 4th year in a row staying at the Kent Hotel and we plan to continue using it as our landing pad for the foreseeable future. The price can't be beat and location is perfect - the beach, amazing restaurants, cute cafes, groceries & sundries are all a short walk away. The facilities are clean and well maintained and the staff is excellent and incredibly kind. Big shout outs to Wes, Josh & Alec who all took excellent care of us during our stay. They cultivate a relaxed, friendly experience while remaining extremely professional. They all deserve a raise!

For the price this was an excellent room. It was clean and well lit. The hotel itself is in the beautiful art deco style common to South Beach. It was a block from the beach and within walking distance to many restaurants. Room had a large closet with mini fridge and safe. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Josh at check-in time. A minor maintenance issue was addressed quickly. Good restaurant right off the lobby with a very good value breakfast special and excellent coffee. I would absolutely stay here again.

Actually, on arrival at the Kent Hotel, I was transferred to the Colony Hotel because of an air-conditioning problem in the room I was to have had. I was transferred by taxi at no charge to me, and was accommodated in the best suite (bedroom plus large livingroom) that overlooked the beach and ocean. I was treated royally being given a huge upgrade at no extra charge. I give kudos to the staff at both the Kent and Colony hotels, for the treatment I received.
